Applications for home mortgages fell 19.5 percent to 653.8 last week compared with the previous week on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association weekly mortgage applications survey.

On an unadjusted basis, the index decreased 21.3 percent, but was up 1.7 percent compared with the same week a year ago.
